My story

I've always had a creative eye. Growing up in a family that nurtured that side of me, I found my way into music and visual arts early. School and I never quite clicked, but put something creative in front of me and I came alive.

I picked up a camera properly after Covid, spent a season shooting for my church community and quickly realised I had a genuine gift for storytelling. That was enough to make me take the leap. I left my job, launched Avoda and spent a good stretch saying yes to everything. I loved it, but I stretched myself too thin trying to be everywhere at once and burned out creatively.

The shift came through my brother Ivan (Ivan Dinh Films). Second shooting alongside him introduced me to weddings properly. The weight of the day, the creative responsibility, the pace of it all. When close friends asked me to photograph their wedding shortly after, it clicked immediately. This was what I was built for.

Then came a serious bike accident and a long recovery that followed. What that season gave me, unexpectedly, was clarity. Space to ask the questions that actually matter. What do I want to build? What kind of legacy do I want to leave for my family? Avoda Studios as it exists today was born in that recovery, rebranded and relaunched as a wedding photography company with real intention behind it. The name is Hebrew for Work, Worship and Craftsmanship. It's not just a name. It's the standard I hold myself to on every wedding day.

"Indy has that rare gift of blending professionalism with authenticity... if you're looking for someone who's both incredibly talented and just an all-round legend to work with, Indy is your guy."

My inspiration

The biggest source of inspiration I bring to every wedding is my own.

Caity and I married at Krinklewood in the Hunter Valley. A winter micro wedding, small and deliberate. Strings ensemble, private vows, an intimate dinner at EXP with our closest people and a reception party at Akuna Bay after our honeymoon where we premiered our wedding film. The whole season was built to feel expansive, not squeezed into a single day.

We chose a winery because it held real meaning. Jesus turning water into wine was his first miracle. That kind of intention in the details is what I now look for in every couple I work with.

Family, faith and a day we will look back on forever!
